Problem watching movies troubled user 07-02-2008

 Windows Media Center will not recognize some of my movies. Any movies that I
have that are not recently released will not play. The media center will act
as if I have not put in a DVD at all. Is there any way that I can play older
movies in the media center?

 You need to find out specific codec for watching movies.

It is still saying that Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the
DVD-ROM drive.

Can Media Player detect and play the DVD?
How old is the DVD? Are you sure it is recorded on standard DVD MPEG2
format?

This particular DVD was made in 2000, and I bought it from Wal-Mart.
