 Is there a possibility to preview .djvu files in Windows Desktop Search like
pdfs, for example?

 Not sure if this would aide you in previewing files of that type, but if you
install the appropiate iFilter, Windows Desktop Search would probably index
files of that type.

I found this link doing a quick search for ".djvu ifilter"

http://www.lizardtech.com/products/doc/ifilter.php

Do post back if you find a solution which worked for you for the benefit of
others.

I tried this already. Indexing works fine, but WDS can't create a preview in
the preview pane? Any ideas?

Have you tried the 2.6.5 version?
