Have a Sony 13" laptop VGN-S460P / PCG-6G4L that I need to get rid of
but first the HD has to be removed. I took out all the screws in the
bottom but there is something holding the center of the keyboard.
Can't see any screws. Suggestions would be greatfully appreciated
including maybe other sites where to get this info.

Did you remove the rubber feet and remove those screws also? RAM cover,
and any other removable covers (mini-PCI wireless) on the bottom? Miss
any holes noted with <===?

Most laptops have a trap door and you can get the hard drive out that
way (since 1999 anyway). If you are doing this for security reasons, you
can use wipe utilities too that will erase the hard drive clean too. A
lot of times the hidden screws are under labels, rubber feet, etc. too.

Forget about removing the hard drive and just wipe it. You can do that
with a software utility. Just erasing, reformatting or repartitioning
the drive isn't good enough, but a simple wipe of the entire drive IS
enough.
