Hi,
I want to test a Toshiba A40 but I don't have the good power supply,
There are 4 pins, 2 positive and 2 negative (I opened it)
I use a standard 15 V DC power supply and put positive in one of the pins up
and negative in one of the pins down but the led lights orange like a power
supply problem.
Do I Have to do it different?
Thanks

Don't take a chance at killing a good laptop
Get the correct power supply

I am not familiar with this model and have no idea as to why Toshiba would
have used a four pin connector on this model unlike most other models which
use a simple coaxial type connector. Are the two positive pins connected to
a common terminal and the two negative pins also connected to a common
terminal? If not, perhaps there is some sort of feedback from the computer
to the power supply to stop charging when the battery is fully charged.

When I test with an Ohmeter the 2 pins from up are connected and the 2 pins
down are connected.

So two pins carry power while other two are sense lines. Or current
limits for each connector are too small; require two connectors. Just
the first two of many possibilities.
