Hi all,

my mobile device "htc TyTN" is set up to synchronize with our enterprise
exchange 2003 sp2 server. A user type certificate is required to do this.

When I connect my TyTN to the PC via USB ActiveSync Desktop v4.5 installs a
certificate. Synchronisation with Exchange 2003 via GRPS works properly.

When I switch off the device totally and then on again, the personal
certificate still is in place.

When I now start ActiveSync via GRPS I'm asked for my Exchange Server
password although it is stored on the device. After I enter the password,
syncing seems to work as normal.

The certificate isn't existing any longer. The storage for personal
certificates is empty now.

When I now switch off and on the device again and then start ActiveSync via
GRPS I get an error message stating, that I need a certificate in order to
access the exchange server.

Error Code: 0x85030027

What`s gone wrong ?
Why does the certificate disappear ?

Any kind of help is very much appreciated.

Best regards
Harald

Hi,
Is the enterprise cert installed as well as the personal cert? Who issued
the enterprise cert?

Hi,

Both certs are installed on the device.

The enterprise cert comes from our windows standalone CA.

The root-cert never disappears its only the personal cert that vanishes.

Harald

There's a bug in AKU2 where when the connection to the server fails for an
unrelated reason, the client cert gets deleted and you have to reenroll.
It's fixed in one of the WM5 AKU3 versions and it's fixed in WM6. What
version of the software is running on your device? I'm guessing it's one of
the versions that has that bug, because it sounds like the same symptoms.

Hi Scott,

the software version is: OS 5.1.465 (Build 15673.3.3.1) which means that WM5
AKU3 is running, doesn't it. I upgraded to this version just a few days ago.

Unfortunately the problems are still present.

Regards
Harald
