My learned friends,

My 120 gb hard drive is struggling as it now only has 4gb (I have had my PC
for 3 years). In an effort to clear some space I ran a search to discover
which files and folders were large enough to be the cause of this excess
usage. I discovered a folder (Documents and setting/Temp) this temp folder I
assume contains temporary files. The folder is a massive 27 gb. This list of
folders and files is very long, some files dating back a few years. I know
that the full versions of some of these files are contained in other folders
on the hard drive. I want to know if I can delete the files in this folder
without causing any unforeseen problems…is it safe to delete these temp
files, are they necessary for some reason. Some files are mp3s others
resemble exe. files but are quite small e.g. 63kb but there are many of them
so the cumulative size is formidable.

In sum my friends I would like to know if I can delete these files and
regain the 27gb of space without causing errors or other problems.

Please advise

Thanking you in advance

Yours,

Joe

I have never had any problem deleting the contents of the Temp folders and I
make sure never to select them to store anything I am saving. However, I
have some reports of people having problems with some application after
emptying their temp folders.
I suggest the following.
1. empty your recycle bin
2. Delete the contents of your temp folders this will move their contents to
the recycle bin from where they can be recovered if needed.
3. After a reasonable period of time again empty your recycle bin.
