Outlook 2003 SP2 will not index with MSN Toolbar MSJacobsen 11-01-2005

I am running Outlook 2003 (11.6568.6568) SP2 and MSN Search Toolbar Version:
02.05.001.1119 (with MSN Search Toolbar for Outlook Version: 02.05.0000.1082)

After installing Office 2003 SP2, Outlook messages stopped being indexed.
I have set the custom index options to only index my Outlook and nothing is
being idexed (In fact, searching for the letter "a" returns no results.)

I do not have the "MSN Search Toolbar" option under the View->Toolbars menu.

I have checked for "Disabled Items" under Help->About. It is not disabled.

I am using "Microsoft Exchange Server" in "Cached Exchange Mode", although I
have tried it without too.

I have run the repair wizard for MS Office, to no avail.

I have un-installed and re-installed MSN Toolbar.

I have completely rebuilt the index several times.

I have read the FAQ
(http://search.msn.com/docs/toolbar.aspx?t=MSNTbar_TROU_CANTFINDANYEMAIL.htm),
and I have either tried everything or it is not applicable.

Please help! I do not want to have to resort to using Google Desktop. I am
very pro-Microsoft, and I want to continue using MSN Toolbar.

I would recommend, either rebuilt the index or reinstall the MSN desktop
search.

I had this problem myself, hope microsoft can fix that in the next release.

By the way anyone knows when we will have the next release?

Marcus,

Thanks, but as I mentioned below, I tried both of those options.

Are files being indexed properly?

You've covered most of the troubleshooting steps that jumped immediately to
mind. Unfortunately, this isn't an issue I've seen before (ie. there are no
known problems with MSN Toolbar or WDS and Outlook 2003 SP2).

I'll let you know if I think of anything else to try.

Brandon,

Thank you for looking into this. I assume from your screen name that you
work for Microsoft. I was hoping to hear from MS and appreciate your time.

As for your question, the files are indexing fine. I turned off all file
indexing to ensure that any result was from email (which is why I'm getting
no results). I did this via the "Custom folder and e-mail locations" option,
and unchecked everything except the "My Email/Outlook" locations.

FYI, I am using both "Personal Folders File (97-2002)" and "Personal Folders
File (2003)" formats. The 97-2002 data file is 1,170,231,296 bytes. The
2003 data file is 574,967,808 bytes.

However, I had the problem when I was only using the 97-2002 format. Prior
to SP2 it was fine. (I only created the 2003 data file because I had reached
maximum size, 1.8GB, under 97-2002)

I hope this information helps. If you need further support information I am
willing to run a gathering tool for you. (i.e. I am beta testing Windows
OneCare and have that support file.)

Again, thank you for your time.
-Michael
