Old MSN toolbar version cannot be uninstalled or even hidden Ben 11-09-2005

I have the MSN toolbar version 01.02 (the type that searches the internet and
not files) and have been extremely dissatisfied with it. I cannot uninstall
it or even hide it from the browser. It appears to be permanently stuck in my
browser. I would install a new version but it says I have to remove the old
version first. Boy would I like to...

I have tried to uninstall it in Add or Remove Programs. After a long pause,
it says "Setup operation failed." Same thing happens when I click on the MSN
menu and choose Uninstall. (By the way, when I choose Give Feedback on this
menu IE crashes... that was helpful.)

When I right-click on the Internet Explorer toolbar to hide the MSN toolbar,
it is in the menu so I try to uncheck it. However, this somehow hides the
*Google toolbar*. I have no idea why.

Could someone please help me uninstall this?

Try this:

It sounds like you might have some conflicting toolbars or browser helper
objects, including possibly some problems due to removal by spyware removers,
which often cause the entries on the toolbar menu to get out of sync.

Thanks, it worked great!

I also found a way to make sure they don't get out of sync in the future.
