Marketing is like voting, do it early and often for the best results.

Please log in for more thread options Hey Newbie,
Getting started in this (or any) business is tough, especially in the
current economic climate, with rates going higher every 6 weeks, thanks to
the Federal Reserve Bank under Greenspan and Bernanke (see
http://www.starmortgagebroker.com/rssnews/ for more on that). And especially in Florida, which has more Mortgage
Brokers per capita than any other state.
I can tell you this, 2-3 years down the road your lifeblood is probably
going to be referrals and repeat customers, if you have any. The "big boys"
in this industry and on the internet may have "referral programs" and
automatic "customer follow-up", when their computer program thinks the
client may be ready to re-fi, but they are normally severely lacking in both
customer service and ethics. Try searching for "Ameriquest scandal", and
you'll find more on this topic.
One thing you should focus on at this point, and through out your career, is
always getting your customers the best program you can for their needs, and
treating them in a fair and honest manner. If you do this consistently,
they will remember you, and in a few years you won't have to worry about
marketing. You'll only have to worry about continuing to provide excellent
service to all of your new and repeat customers.
Good Luck,
Karen Pooley
