Wouldn't it be nice? We watch movies with surround sound and all that jazz
kicked up so there is no chance we'll ever hear the doorbell when the pizza
gets there.

Has anyone thought of making this device?

I would assume there's a way to do this using X10 hardware and one of
several Media Center X10 interface programs, but I don't know of any
specific products...

I found the necessary hardware to interface USB in the way I need and I can
write the software for it. Minimally it will require a connection to your
doorbell circuitry via small 1pair wiring. What would be cooler is if I can
figure some way to attach (double-back tape) a device to or near the
doorbell itself that will detect the ring noise and wireless transmit the
signal back to my device (near the MCE). Any thoughts on this?
