Moving Local Users from one Meber Server to another? Scott Townsend 04-12-2007

We have a few Sharepoint Sites that we host for customer projects. We
created local machine user accounts for some of the customers to log into
the sharepoint sites.

We are int he process of moving from Server A to Server B, both Win2003
Servers.

Is there a way to move the User Accounts from one server to another? Server
A will eventually go away, but they both need to be up and on the network
for a few weeks atleast.

Thank you,
Scott<-

If you do find a way let me know. I spent a month attempting just that. The
problem is that the accounts will hav different SID's on the new server and
SharePoint won't recognize them.

I am currently trying out the use of Forms Auth against a SQLExpress
database, but I'm not sure even that would be portable.

We used a Product back in the Win2000 Days called "Ideal Migration" It
copied the users over.

How hoping with 2003R2 there might be a better way.
