I just attempted to rent a movie from MovieLink.com and was prompted to
update my windows runtime files. When I tried that it didn't work, and I
contacted customer service at MovieLink. I was told that the because
Microsoft had added new DRM to the latest version of media player, my
software could no longer be updated on my XP Media Center computer.
Basically, I can no longer be a customer of MovieLink.

Has anyone else encountered this on their media center XP computer?

Thanks,
Harry

I do not have answer for your problem.

But I have a question and a comment.

Question, have you asked MovieLink about their support of the DRM? It was
enacted into law in 1998.

If their movies are legal, why do they not have the License for you to view
the movies.

Comment, Write your Congress person and complain.

As a followup, I contacted MovieLink again. It turns out that they do
support the new DRM for Media Center versions 2005 and later.
