I was just switched from XP Pro to Vista Business when my company upgraded
laptops, the problem is that I cannot get Vista to install drivers for my
Motorola Q. I tried the route installing from the "Dun" folder from the
drivers disk and that method worked until I disconnected the cell phone from
the usb port. Now everytime I reconnect, Vista tries to re-install the
drivers, But I get an error message stating that windows has the drivers, but
encountered an error installing it/file cannot be found. I tried the 'dun'
folder trick to re-install the drivers, but Vista 'lo and behold' cannot see
the driver now. I read in the community pages that I need to delete an .inf
file (which I did and rebooted), but that didn't help. Tried the route going
through Motorola, got directed to new drivers (for Vista), downloaded, and
tried to install. Same story, Windows cannot find the file even when I
direct it to the folder. I'm at wits end, The Verizon and Motorola techs
have tried to talk me through the process, but keep coming up with the same
message/error that windows cannot install. The tech had me check a folder in
the 'system32 directory/driver store/ smartphone' and there are drivers
there, but Vista will not/cannot find them. Help!!???
