Hi,
I purchased this phone unlocked from ebay in Feb 2006. I have cingular
as a service. I love the phone and have had no problems with it other
than not having a network and not being able to receive/send pics. In
the beginning of May 2007, my daughter needed to use my phone (hers
broke) and just switched out the SIM card. No problem. The next day
she gave me my phone back (she just had it at night at home, so she
didn't break it) and it said "searching" and my name across the
bottom. I changed out the SIM card and it said the same thing. The
phone was un usable. We went to Cingular and they said that it
couldn't be fixed and that it was probably the internal antennae. From
that point on the phone has been unusable and nothing I have tried
works. Any ideas??

Thanks

Not really, except before you write it off you might a least want to try
a hard-reset (this will erases all data!) just to rule out a software
glitch. If it's still dead after the reset, it's time to look for a new
phone.

You can find instructions to hard reset your phone from
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/wireless/2004/01/01/mpx2002.html by
following the excerpt below. Before doing so make sure you back up any
personal data before proceeding.

Hard Reset: Keep pressing and holding the blue Action Key and Power Button
past the Smartphone 2002 screen. You will see a Master Reset screen asking
if you want to perform a hard reset. Note that performing a hard reset will
erase applications such as the Task Manager and File Manager provided by
Motorola.

I don't have any additional advice for jlwilks (other than to 2nd the idea
of a hard reset as a last resort before throwing the MPx220) away. But, I
was amused by the idea of seeing responses from 3 "Todd-s" in a row and was
also amused to see someone found my old MPx200 review article on
OReillyNet.com :-)

Maybe there's an "alt.todds" we can all hang out in... ;-)
