I have a self signed cert in Small Business Server that's worked fine for 3
years with
all my Palm Treo's, laptops etc...(exchange.mydomain.com)I just purchased a
Sprint Mogul w/ Mobile 6.0 and it will not sync to
Exchange or even my VISTA PC/Outlook. I get the following error:

"The security certificate on the server is not valid. Contact your Exchange
Server administrator or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server."

support code: 0x80072f0d

Do I really have to buy a Cert from a Trusted CA to login now? I've tried a
bunch of threads but none have worked. Any solutions?Thanks,the-g-man

Usually this happens in one of two situations:

1. the name of the server you are using to sync is not the same name that is
in the certificate (or you are trying to use the IP address).

2. The name of the server in the certificate is not the FQDN (fully
qualified domain name) of the server, as it is known in the internet DNS.

I have the same new phone (Sprint Mogul), the same server (SBS 2003 R2) and
the same problem. I understand the reasons for the problem but a solution
eludes me. Following SBS naming rules the server is in a .local FQDN. Having
a dynamic IP address I had to use a Dynamic DNS registration to access my
SBS server remotely (using RWW), it ends in .com. That also allows me to
route web traffic to a remotely hosted web site while email is routed to my
exchange server. The OWA name is the same as the DynDNS name but not the
same as the server name. What options are there? Can I get a .local DynDNS
name? Can I get the server to produce an alternate named self signed
certificate just for the Mogul?
