I can't for the life of me find how I did this now! It may have been in WM11
I think, but even when I try there now I can't find the screen I used to
determine which playlists should get sync'ed to the smartphone.

Ah, found it now! I was right, Media Player 11 beta, but it may exist in 10
as well.

Activesync the device, and then go to the Sync area in WM11. The device
should show in the list on the left of the screen, mine lists Playlists,
then Library, then Storage Card (on the Smartphone).

Right click on Storage Card and choose Set Up Sync. This should give you a
Device Setup screen that allows you to select the Playlists you wish to
sync.

This, for me at least, creates the Playlist properly on the phone.

That's there, but according to my experimenting, it does nothing other
than copy the files to the device in playlist order, no playlists on the
ppc... the resulting folder structure may allow playing in that order,
but it's not a playlist... for example, when more tunes are copied to
the same folders later, it's not easy to select what you want to hear.

With multi gig cards now pretty cheap, you can carry a considerable
media library, but, wmp doesn't make accessing specific parts it a
simple matter... back to the third party players.

Beverly, I understand the difference between a Playlist and a folder
containing a list of files that could be played.

The Playlists are definitely there on my device, an I-mate SP5 running WM5.
They exist as files with a type of "asx". I chose to sync to the Storage
Card, the Playlists are in a folder called "Playlists" in the root of the
Storage Card. They can be viewed through Windows Explorer on the PC when the
device is sync'ed and can also be seen from File Explorer on the device.
They can be played by selecting them within Media Player on the device. The
mp3s themselves are nicely arranged in a folder per Artist and Album within
a folder called "Music", also in the root of the Storage Card.

To get it to work you must select specific Playlists to be sync'ed in the
dialog box I described in Media Player on the PC. When this is done it works
such that its "almostapod" <grin>.

Trust me, on my device they work, no fiddles involved.

Thanks for the additional information... will revisit it and am looking
forward to getting it to work.
