I read on amazon.com, one of the reviewers said that you could copy
copyrighted materials to the minisd card. Is this true, and if so, it means
I can't move e-books, audio books, movies, and mp3's to it?

Could or couldn't. There are flavors of Digital Rights Management, DRM,
that can prevent you from viewing content, not appropriately transferred.
That is true whether it is to the main memory an SD card, or from a PC to an
MP3 player for that matter. It is not a limitation solely based on the
mini-SD card and the SMT5600 specifically.

Most all the material you are likely to want to copy to the mini-SD is
copyrighted, music you have downloaded or ripped from CDs, movies that you
have downloaded or ripped, e-books you have purchased on line, etc. That
does not mean that all that material is copy protected, or protected by DRM.

For at least the music portion, Pocket Media Player 10 on the SMT is capable
of transferring licenses from several download services like MSN music and
Napster. For music you have converted to wma or mp3 from your own CDs, you
don't have an issue with DRM, but of course the material is still
copywrited. If it is copy-protected, you may need to transfer the tracks to
the SMT5600 using MP10 on the desktop, to properly handle the license
transfer.

Videos and books are dependent on where you got them and their formats.

The bottom line is there isn't anything that will stop you from transferring
the digital files to the mini-sd. It is possible that some DRM stuff can
prevent you from viewing/hearing them.
