All of a sudden today, with no hardware/software changes, I get the
following message when I connect my ipaq:

Microsoft Outlook is no longer installed, so ActiveSync cannot continue to
run. To continue synchronization, reinstall Microsoft Outlook. If you no
longer want to synchronize your data, disable synchronization in ActiveSync.

I am running Office 2003, no changes made anytime recently. I have tried
reinstalling ActiveSync, no dice. Tried installing ActiveSync 4.2, no dice.

Anyone?

Thanks

Hmm, weird - did you by any chance install any Firewalls/ AntiVirus or Block
Scripting for security purposes? ActiveSync uses Outlook Object Model and
hence script blocking would force it to perceive the inexistense of Outlook
on the desktop.

The other option would be to check if anythign changed on the exchange
side - like your mailbox/profile got moved/re-configured?

No, nothing new installed, nor anything reconfigured. About the only
possible change is this may be the first reboot and use of the ipaq since
the latest Patch Tuesday, but not positive.

Is there anything I can do to resolve? Will an uninstall/reinstall of O2k3
work? Any registry entries I can add or change that it's looking for...?

Thanks.

Had the same problem.

Ran the Office Diagnotics... option from the Help menu in Outlook 2007. Ran for
several minutes and reported fixing one setup problem. Sync worked fine after
that.
