Seems pretty evident that Microsoft does not think users are very smart.
Plus Microsoft is very good at hiding bad practices (theirs) from users.
Such as not allowing users to playback protected programs that we recorded,
before a computer crash.
Many times you can not play protected content without jumping through a lot
of hoops, and then you may never play those files again.
Microsoft is over zealous with enforcing the DRM.
And what about not allowing recording and playing HD content from sources
other that Off the Air? (Yeah, I know about CableCard).
