Greetings:

This Map Maker software is turning into a nightmare!!

I tried to edit the example style set they provide. When I clicked "OK"
next thing I know I was back at the Default style set but all the icons
and symbols had been deleted!

I clicked "CANCEL"...and got an error dialog box that said

"Redraw failed [4]"

Each time I'd click on the box...I'd get another...and another. Finally
they stopped. I went to exit the program and I got an error dialog box
that said

"Delete File Failed C:\documents and settings\ <blah blah
blah>\temporary data\MM1.stl"

Exitted out of the program.

Started it up again.

Got the same "Redraw failed [4]" error even as the start-up banner was
still on the screen.

Tried to draw a line. The default style set was empty.

Exitted, got the same redraw error message.

Uninstalled the program.

Re-installed.

Ran the program and discovered that all my original settings were still
intact (modification to order of tool icons on toolbar, etc). Also, the
project conunter picked up from where it left off before I uninstalled.
The default style set was also emplty. Don't understand how any of this
could be if the program had been uninstalled.

Re-uninstalled the program.

Ran regedit and deleted the mapmaker key (it said it was "value not
set")

Re-installed. Situation is still the same.

I am completely at my wits end over this software. I can't see how a
"default" style set can get installed empty...when it originally
installed correctly......something seems to have gotten completely
scrogged up!!

Any and all advice appreciated.

Thank you!

PS: I'm especially interested in advice of any OTHER map making
programs out there that are more user-friendly.

Thanx!

Hi,

I haven't really used MM that much so can't offer much help but there
is a MM-specific forum where might get more help -
http://www.latitudecartography.co.uk/forum/default.asp

Also, here is a link to some trouble-shooting help and tuition
documents - http://www.latitudecartography.co.uk/images/MM_Support.htm

HTH
