I am running WinXP Pro, latest patches, etc. I was interested in trying
the WDS 2.6 to see if it offered improved search capabilities. Of
course, it required that I uninstall MSN Search Toolbar before
installing, which I dutifully did. I'd like to re-install MSN Toolbar
now, so I can get the tab option back, but I can't do that. It
complains that a newer version is installed. Is there an MSN Toolbar
package that includes tabs but does not include Search? Or do I have to
uninstall WDS 2.6 and reinstall MSN Search Toolbar? Thanks! - Pat

One of the main differences between the consumer version of MSN toolbar
suite and the enterprise edition of the toolbar is that they are broken
up. i.e. the toolbar is entirely seperate from the desktop search
component.

So to answer your question, download the enterprise version of the
toolbar (which will be seperate from desktop search).

Searching Microsoft's site for "enterprise" and "toolbar" just leads me
to a download for MSN Search Toolbar 2.06, which is what I had before.
It includes desktop search, but seems to be downlevel from WDS 2.6.
Unless I'm missing something. I haven't seen any evidence that I'm
getting anything with WDS 2.6 that I wasn't getting with MSN Search
Toolbar, so I'm not necessarily opposed to reverting. I just want to
confirm that is the only option available to me to get tabs in IE6
(without having to download some other toolbar). On the other hand,
maybe I'll just wait for IE 7....Thanks Dave! - Pat

There are seperate programs for the MSN toolbar and WDS search, however
they are only available in enterprise editions.
WDS only:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/desktopsearch/enterprise/default.mspx
MSN toolbar only:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/desktopsearch/enterprise/toolbar/default.mspx

Therefore to answer your original question, download the MSN toolbar
only and you will get the tabs in IE6 without WDS. Alternatively you
can download Mozilla Firefox :P
