Hi,

I have windows 2000 professional with sp4 and I was using msn searchtoolbar
and recently instaleld updates from MSN site. Two updates got installed which
were related to Office XP and i dont even have Office on my PC. Ever since
then My MSN search bar is not searching fully and therefore bot showing
complete results.

This might sound patronizing, but has it finished indexing? Is the
indexing service enabled?

Regards,
David

Yes the indexing service is enabled and running. I made a mistake in my last
post it was from windowsudpate that i had downloaded those updates. Also the
results do show up but i know for sure that there should be more results. So
in a way the results are incomplete.

What sort of results are you looking for? Do you have the necessary
iFilters for them? I do know that WDS, GDS and probally most of the
other desktop search tools currently have some problems with simple
searches.
For example, if you are trying to find text inside a file sometimes it
can't find it (doesn't index complete file?).

Also in WDS the searching isn't the greatest. If there is a file called
WindowsDesktopSearch and you search for Desktop, you won't find the
file. If you search for Windows you still won't find the file. But if
you search for *Search then you will. Also if you rename the file into
'Windows.Desktop.Search' then it has no trouble finding the file if you
search for Windows or Desktop. Maybe something the never appearing WDS
developers can fix?

David
