You have voicemail?
Hundreds of years ago, back when telephones were powered by steam, and
actually had, <gasp> WIRES we would record messages on audio tape
recorders called "answering machines."
That "B" on it's back is an icon of a tape.
I suspect the owner's manual doesn't mention it because the carrier who
sold the phone (and edited the manual!) probably used to alert customers
of voicemail via text message instead of an icon, and only started using
the icons relatively recently.
