 Is there a way to display a TV tuner so you can select the channel and power
on or off a set top box. You get the +/- options for channel and sound in TV
mode, but it would be nice to be able to just change to a channel number via
the software instead of with a remote control.

Is there a third party MCE application that will perform this function?

 You have to realize that almost all STBs do not have separate power on and
power off command they just have a power button/power command which just
changes the power status of the box. so if the box is off it is turnen on
and if it is on it is turned off. For this reason MCE does not issue a power
commant to your STB.

You can use the remote or the PC keyboard to enter the channel number
directly, why would you need a separate application?
