You'd be amazed how often this problem crops up. Seems to have something to
do with installing PhotoShop and/or Office. A registry key got changed or
deleted. Here's the fix...
Run "regedit".
In the tree at the left side, open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and scroll down and
click on .jpeg.
On the right side, you need a string named PerceivedType, with the data
"image".
You can right-click on the .jpeg entry and select New and then String Value.
On the right side, enter PerceivedType, then Enter.
Double-click on PerceivedType, and in the dialog text box enter "image"
without the quotes.
Repeat this activity for the .jpg entry directly below the .jpeg entry.
That should fix it.
