Lost ability to play MP3s as ringtones Fr@nk 06-01-2006

Hi. I have a Verizon/Audiovox XV6700 PPC/phone. Up until a couple of days
ago I was able to set MP3 files as ringtones (they're stored in the
\Windows\Rings folder). The other day I installed the MP3 recording app
noteM, and I think it mucked something up with the subsystem, because now
the device won't let me use MP3 files as ringtones. If I set the ringtone to
one of my MP3s (in the Settings/Phone area), and click the arrow to preview
it, it doesn't play. And it also defaults back to the Windows Default sound,
rather than leaving it set to my MP3 file choice. It will play WAVs and even
MIDI files as ringtones fine still. But like I said, up until a couple of
days ago, MP3s worked fine as ringers.

Does someone know the registry key(s) that might allow the use of MP3s as
ringtones (or some other fix)? It's running WM5. Thanks.

Hi. I already have converted some of my favorite MP3s to WAV as a
workaround. I'd rather have the system play MP3s, as they take up less space
on the device. Besides, it USED to do this. Thanks anyway.

Just re-assign default MP3 player to default (not the
MP3 recording program) and ringtones should work
again (or uninstall new software if previous impossible)
