For some reason I lost my ABC channel last night, and of course the superbowl
is on this station. When I run the setup for digital signal strength, it
comes in at 6bars/100%. When I tune to this station I get a blue screen that
says "No TV Signal" and then say to check antenna or that station may be off
the air. I have tried running through the signal strengh setup and a reboot.
I know this station is still on the air as I get the signal on my HDTV in my
gameroom and the TV and computer are both hooked to the same roof mounted
antenna.

I also have Snapstream Beyond TV installed and the station comes in at 100%
on their strength meter and it displays fine, so I could record it from
there, but I like MCE interface better.

Anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks
Ray Nist

I've got the exact same scenario here (full signal strength; blue screen
unavailable message) <f>. Naturally it's ABC eh? What ATSC tuner are you
running? I've got an Aver Media 180 which up 'till now has been working
perfectly (only had the system for a couple of weeks). I get the other ota
stations just fine and was getting ABC just fine 'till a few days ago.

Something I've noticed is that now if I try to switch ota channels it will
start to loose picture (go black) and then audio after 4 or 5 channel
changes. It then hangs with an ehshell.dll hang. End task, realunch media
center and all is well again (I can tune to and watch a single ota channel or
browse 'n watch any ntsc signal). Do you get the same behaviour?

I'm really scratching my head over this one and have been through the gamut
of driver updates, rollbacks, etc. I may take a quick look at the snapstream.

Did you ever get ABC to work?? I've been spending hours and hours
troubleshooting this and I can't get it to work either. I just bought the
ATI HDTV tuner, like you have 100% signal, live within 10 miles of the tower,
and just CAN'T get it to tune in on Win MCE 2005.
Thanks,
Mike

I have been looking for a solution to this problem for over a month now. I
have 3 digital broadcast stations I am interested in. NBC comes in loud and
clear in MCE. CBS and FOX however exhibit the same behaviour. Full signal
strenght, comes in on TV's tuner, comes in using other TV applications, but
MCE simply displays the "No TV Signal" error. From what I have gathered it
has something to do with the way the station is broadcasting and the way MCE
intereprets it. I live in a rural area, dont' subscribe to cable / sat. so
the analog broadcasts look terrible, so I am only interested in the digital
ones.

The blame lies with MS on this one. If a TV tuner can grab it, and the tuner
card can grab it with another application, the MS needs to figure out what
they did wrong and fix it. I am not even sure how to let them know something
is up. I fear we won't get any sort of fix until Vista rolls around.

If you have 2 tuners you can use one for MCE and one for BeyondTV (which is
what I do). Its a massive pain, because I have to use VideoReDo to convert
from .tp to .mpg, but its a few minutes each day so I can watch shows when I
want. I have been looking for another app that will do the digital broadcasts
in .mpg so I can skip the MCE / BeyondTV issue all together.
