Hi all,

I have just acquired a Laptop with a broken screen (LCD). What I am
thinking of doing is to use the laptop, which by the way works great,
with an external monitor. However, I want to disconnect the Screen/Lid
so that I dont have to open and close it everytime.

Is this possible? Has anyone done this before?
Appreciate all your help.
Deep

Its a Compaq Presario R3000
I had it opened enough to remove the LCD, but the hinges that hold the
screen didnt seem to come off that easily. So I put it all back
together. I guess I will have to open the rest of it as well...

My thinkpad a30 which i plucked to pieces to change mainboard had a
simple mainboard connector. But it was more bits and nuts i had to
remove before i could manage to disconenct it from the mainboard than i
could count. so prepare to note down where what goes, and try uncover
what you can until you reach the mainboard. be aware that the internal
cables are very fragtile and not sturdy ones like the ones in desktops.

or you could go nuts with a saw and save yourself the trouble ;)

It's probably possible but it's a lot of work (how much and how
difficult varies from model to model).
