After replacing the original builtin HDD with a new one the notebook
does not boot any more from CD/DVD or network. Instead of starting
from CD the display blanks after BIOS summary and does a hard reset
after a little waiting time.
The original builtin HDD is a FUJITSU MHT2080AT, the new one is a
Hitachi HTS541616J9AT00. The correct boot sequence is selected. With
the original HDD starting from CD is possible, so the CD drive works
and the CD is functional. The new HDD itself is not defective, in
other configurations it works perfectly.
Did anyone experience and solve similar behaviour (preferrably with an
LG notebook)?

Thanks for help
Arndt

Did you make the hard drive "active"?

Not at the moment, but I failed with start and installation from CD
although the correct boot order in BIOS is set. HDD partitioning and
activation should be only necessary if starting from HDD, I believe.
If I'm lucky this is the next step ;-).

Sounds like you need to visit the BIOS Setup and setup the device boot
order to me. When you turn on the laptop and watch the screen, it will
tell you what key(s) to hit to enter the Setup. If Windows starts
loading, you missed that option. If you computer shows a graphic instead
of text when booting up, try tapping the ESC key to switch it to text.

Thanks for your answer, but the boot order is ok. The sequence is CD
before HDD. With the original HDD it boots from CD. But the error
occurs directly before CD boot should start.
