Just a couple of Blackberrys Eric Baines 02-12-2008

 I love MS smartphones. We have a whole range of them - a couple of hundred -
both phones and PDAs - all getting push email etc from our Exchange server.

My problems is that I have 2 people who want to try Blackberrys. And those 2
people are our HR Director and our Chief Exec.

The difficulty is that Blackberrys have now reached mythical reliability.
Every problem with a smartphone would not occur with a Blackberry. The only
way I can disprove this is to let them try it and see. But obviously, I don't
want to spend loads of money on a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) just for
2 Blackberrys, that hopefully will be returned pretty sharpish.

So I wondered if anyone had any ideas of if it is possible to synch a couple
of Blackberries to Exchange (email, calendar and contacts) without buying a
BES?

You can get a trial BES for no money.

However, in the meantime you can point your keen people at the stories
of the Blackberry infrastructure failures. Google for Blackberry email
outage or similar.

you'ld know WHY Blackberry is preferred by the cognoscenti
