I have not noticed any problems myself. I even have most of my programs
installed to the card and not noticed any slowdown in starting them or
running them.

Nope - as opposed to serial-to-parallel conversions like SD to/from
CF/PCMCIA (see my prev post), micro/miniSD's use the same protocol than
SD's. No speed decrease with SD adapters.
