We have been trying to find an easy way to do a search in some large xml
files (80-100MB each). Since I use Windows Desktop Search for my mails and
documents (and am very happy with it), I thought I could also use it to index
these xml files.
Alas, some problems occured :
1) with the default settings, it seems like WDS does not index the content
of all XML files;
2) when I add ".xml" to the list "Index file types as text" he seems only to
index the beginning of the file; when I enter a word near the end of the
file, I get no results.
So, two questions :
1) is there a size limit for the files WDS indexes ?
2) do you need a specific ifilter to properly index large xml files ? If so,
any recommendations ?
Thanks
