Well now you do know of an add-in ;-)

On my machine my app is scheduled to run once an hour and it basically makes
of copy of the web pages (just the html and pdf/docs) that were visited in
the last hour to a permanent directory, %mydocs%\webcache.

The standard html, pdf and word IFilters are then used by MSN Desktop Search
to index the files in %mydocs%\webcache so you can now basically search the
contents of every web page you've visited, including pdf and word docs that
you may have viewed in the browser.

In addition I add the original URL to an NTFS property set for each of the
files I copy into the webcache directory.

So you can use the keyword property as a filter when issuing an MSN Desktop
Search query, e.g.

"MSN Desktop Search" keywords:slashdot

Will search your browser history and find any pages that reference "MSN
Desktop Search" and that include slashdot in the original URL.

Cheers

Yes, I am interested but I am unclear if this (your post) is the write-up.

I am testing the theory by copying some of my temprorary internet files to a
directory and having the DS index that folder. Problem? No hits. I had to had
htm/html as in the file types to index in the options but still nothing.

So, is there more detail I need? What is %mydodocs%\webchache ? is that your
permannent folder to index? I have no system var called that. My temporary
intenet files does not point to that either.

If you have an installable app or if this is just it, let us know.

I hope Microsoft is listening (though of course they aren't) and tell me how
long I have to use google desktop search to find my web pages.

I posted a new item to this newsgroup on 7/15/2005 titled "Solution for
indexing browser cache history" which provides a link to a more detailed
write up and also allows you to download the app and/or source code for the
app.

Cheers
