Hi,
I haven't worked on this stuff in a long time...
if memory serves, I gave up on using DirectShow and used an embedded
version of Windows Media Player.
This solution will work but it gets a little ugly if you want to have
any good control over the playing song.

Hi Tom ,
I am having the same problem what you had for wm 5.0. almost same
code , Renderfile fails with the error code VFW_E_CANNOT_RENDER
for .mp3 files in wm 5.0.
Can you please tell me what is the problem and how you resolved.
