OK, first off I know that I'm cheap. I still have a Toshiba e740 ppc
that I'm using for my PDA. It worked well until the other day when I
plugged in a defective cable and broke one of the pins in the connector.
Now it will not connect via USB. The cost to have the connector
replaced is $65 - more than I'm willing to spend ---- so I bought a
Kingsun USB - IR adapter in hopes that I could reconnect my ppc with my
XP laptop.

The adapter is installed and the icon in the system tray says "Pocket_PC
is in Range". So I think that the two are talking; however, ActiveSync
3.5 will not connect. Also I cannot transfer files with the utility from
Kingsun.

Has anyone successfully used this adapter? Any ideas about how to get
the two to connect?

TIA
'bert

Yes, I have done that. In fact serial or IR is the only allowed
connection. Thanks anyway

then try using another emulation mode in IR adapter's hardware settings (if
original driver is installed properly), 4 modes are present as I remember
