I am new to Windows Mobile and PDAs (that's obvious I hear you say :)
I want to xfer files from my PC to the ACER N300 (it has WM 5.0 installed)
There is something caled a "download agent"
Is that what I should use or is there an easier way?

On my PC I can see the PDA device file structure OK but it won't let me drag
files to it (using USB or Bluetooth)
With a USB connection I can xfer from the ACER - but not to it.
I can do the same with a bluetooth connection.

I have set bluetooth settings to allow file transfer.

I feel I am missing something very obvious!! :(

Any help please - would be much appreciated?

Ger

P.S. The PDA also has an SD-MMC memory card installed - I don't see this
from the PC. What I really want to do is transfer music and mp3 files from
my PC to the PDA.

The download agent is there to download software you bought in the
internet, I suspect to make it impossible to archive the software on one's
PC for later.

That's strange.

Have you tried to transfer single files? Also, AS is somewhat difficult
with paths. Try to move the file to \ or \My documents and then - on the
device - to its final destination.

Usually the SD-Card can be accessed via the \Storage Card folder. So in
Explorer (Desktop) it should be under Mobile Device\My mobile based device
(or whatever it's called in English)\Storage Card.
Again, M$ is trying to make it "easier" for the average customer by showing
\My Documents as the root under Explorer's Mobile Device item.

Thank you for those comments Frank.

I can now see the whole file structure on the PDA using Win Explorer on the
PC.
That includes the SD card and its folders and files.
I can drag anything from the PDA onto the PC.
BUT, when I try to drag from PC to PDA I just get the 'not allowed' symbol
(circle with line thru it.
That applies to all folders on the PDA (including the one you suggest). Also
to single files.
Nowhere can I see anything about file sharing and/or permissions to write to
the PDA.
I have the feeling this is something very basic.

Any other suggestions welcome please

Ger

Ger,
does your PC have a memory card reader/writer? Stick your SD card in there
and
copy files to it. Create a directory 'My Documents' on it for the PDA to see
your mp3 files.
The only time I use a cable connection between my PC and PDA (iPAQ h2215) is
when
I install new software with ActiveSync.
Good luck!

P.S. If you don't have a built in reader buy one, they are cheap (connects
to USB) K.

Thank you Klaus, yes, I do have a card reader on the PC and what you suggest
would of course work. Guess I'll have to do that.
I can also plug a memory stick into the PDA cradle and transfer
files via the memory stick.
Just bugs me that the drag/drop doesn't work :)
