Hi,

I have a T-Mobile SDA with a 2GB MiniSD card. I have a folder of
various files on my PC that I want to sync with the SDA any time it is
connected.

Is there a way to do this?

My PDA seems to have the ability to sync a folder, but ActiveSync does
not have this option when it is connected to the SDA.

Any advice?

John

If you want to sync to the card, you need a 3rd party utility like Mighty
Sync. AS will only sync internal RAM contents.

However, I am not sure that it will work with the SDA. I use Mighty Sync
with my PDA (Pocket LOOX 720), but I noticed that my SDA doesn't give the
option of synchronising files and that's required for Mighty Sync to work.
I've just been using a card reader to move files onto the mini SD of my
SDA.

It is possible to do exactly what you want with ActiveSync and a PDA. I'm
currently using a Smartphone and not a PDA, and for some reason the
Smartphone version is lacking folder and notes synchronization.

Try to dig through the menus in ActiveSync or try to enable the folder
synchronization on the PDA. You should get a new folder in My Documents
called My Mobile Device, or something similar, and this folder will then
synchronize when cradling the device.

Don't know of a solution for a Smartphone at the moment. Likely the reasons
for folder sync not being supported include the limited file types that have
smartphone apps, and the limited internal RAM of most smartphones. I know
that you could sync pdf. and repligo files and others but there aren't the
pocket office apps to use with sync'd files. Remember too that the PPC files
sync only syncs files out of main RAM, not flash cards. That memory is
typically fairly limited on Smartphones. Both those things are changing, so
it would not surprise me if Files Sync on a smartphone isn't supported in
the future.
