Hi All. Having trouble controlling my scientific atlanta 3100 with the
Microsoft remote and blaster kit. I have tried switching blaster ports on
the receiver, tried various blaster positions on the STB, held the blaster
manually and tried to get it to change channels. Tried saying "No, I don't
need to hit OK button" as well as "Yes, I have to hit the OK button". Tried
manually selecting Scientific Atlanta as my provider (by answering no, I
don't have a remote) and then tried ALL codes for Scientific Atlanta, all to
no avail.

I have one huge question. On any other iR remote that I have, I can see the
IR emitter light up very quickly when I press a button. The IR blaster has
no perceivable light that it's sending. Does that seem right? You can't
visually see the microsoft ir blaster emit any sort of light?

Should I call Adelphia and try to get a newer model STB?

FYI: I got this to work (and even picked up another STB from RipOffAdelphia).
I simply had to use the software option "Try other Blaster Cable" and
position the blaster down a little from the eye.
