Due to a defect in MCE2005 I mentioned elsewhere on this forum I intend to
resort to capturing the signal from my STB via SCART to SVideo as opposed to
the RF input. I assume the picture quality will be better as well ?

The SCART adapter that inserts into the STB has an Svideo connection and
also L and R audio connections. My tuner card a ATI Theater 550 PRO has 1
SVideo connection, 1 RF connection, and 1 FM Input. The leads that I have
consist of an Svideo to Svideo lead, one end which plugs into the SCART
adapter and the other that plugs into tuner card. There is another lead that
plugs into the L and R audio connections on the SCART adapter with a small
jack at the far end, but I have no place to plug this into on the tuner card.
Looking at the manual the SVideo connector on the Tuner card should be able
to handle both audio and video, but if that is the case I guess I need a
different type of SCART adapter and leads ?

If so can someone let me know what type of adapter and leads I need and what
they are called. Thnaks for taking the time to read this and thanks in
advance for your help !

Best Reagrds, Peter.

Peter,

Unfortunately you are trying to do something that I can't be done. A quick
look on ATI's website tells me that the Theatre 550 card is a Digital TV card
whereas your STB will output an Analogue signal. Therefore you require an
analogue TV card to capture from your STB.

Personally, I use a Hauppauge MCE150 card to capture the video from my
Telewest digital STB, first converting the RGB SCART tp S-video using one of
these:

Hope this helps...
