Hi Matt,
You have not mentioned the version of ActiveSync you have installed? If you
don't have a WM 5.0 device, then do not install ActiveSync 4.1, you can use
ActiveSync 3.8. Available for download at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync38.mspx
Next, Toshiba e740 requires OEM USB drivers for successful setup of
partnership. It would be provided in the OEM CD that accompanies with the
purchase of the device. If you don't have it, you can download these
drivers from
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_dtlViewDL.jsp?soid=210707 Refer to the readme file that is provided with the driver package.
Once done, connect your device and you should be able to sync successfully
(assuming the ports on your firewall are configured correctly).
