That's interesting, because Google Desktop Enterprise requires a local
replica of your mail, and their search bar is indexing my mail just
fine - it just seems that WDS can't find the local replica file. Am am
confident that a local replica is being created as I see it on my hard
drive (all 800 MB of it) and GDE is working ok. But... I see from
your message that I not only have to have a local replica, but I have
to be working from my local replica - is that true? GDE only requires
that I *have* a local replica...

Please advise...

Exactly!
You got it right. You have to have a local replica plus you should to be
working on local.

I know that GDS does indexes any file on local. But i've seen that it does
not provide a very good content search. In my case i was not able to search
on the body of most of my mails with GDS. It indexed only the titles/subjects.

But i've also heard that soon another version of Lotus plugin is coming with
WDS and that is much much better than GDS. It'll be able to index any type of
file on your local machine (without requiring you to work on local) just like
you index any other file.

So jus wait 'n' watch, and you'll forget GDS!!
Now that's interestning?? ;)

Cheers!!

Hi

It sounds almost like an echo. I believe I tried what you wrote above, but
it looks like it won't index the mail file.

I moved my Notes mail file to the data directory from the data/mail
directory and changed the setup in notes specifying where it looks for it.

By the way - could it have something to do with the location setup in Notes?
I have several, but the to I use the most is Office and ADSL, where in office
I'm working directly on the server whereas on ADSL I'm working on the local
replica.

Thanks for helping

Did anyone resolve this problem? I have installed WDS and the Notes plug-in
now (in Jan 2007!) and it does not appear to have indexed my Notes archives.

These archives are stored locally and the files appear in the Lotus Notes
preferences "files to index" under "localhost".

My primary notes mail database has been indexed fine.

thanks
Ian
