Hi All
I want to know what are the settings on Win CE 5.0 to get it connected over
serial port?

I will highly appreciate if someone provide a simple step by step method.

Thanks

Sohailto

So, you do *not* have a Windows Mobile device, but a Windows CE device? Are
you sure that the ActiveSync components are included in the device? It's
quite possible for the device vendor to choose not to put them in (or
anything else; the operating system is just a bunch of components from which
the OEM can pick and choose). If the ActiveSync pieces are included, it's
also possible that serial connectivity may not be supported. The short
answer to your question is, "Ask the device vendor for instructions, if any,
for connecting with ActiveSync." Here's a post from a long time back in the
archives that I wrote concerning the actual steps for a device that *does*
have the right components in the OS already:

Dear Paul
Actually I am trying to build a WinCE system on a SMDK2440. The ActiveSync
Component and serial port are supported. and serial port option appear on PC
Connection control panel on CE device but the device doesn't connect. I want
to know is it necessary to use RAS or any networking components? some insight
on ActiveSync connectivity (the connection establishment procedure) will be
helpful.
Thanks for replying.

Did you include TAPI in the OS? I don't think that RAS is required, but the
right place to look for answers is *not* a Pocket PC ActiveSync newsgroup,
but microsoft.public.windowsce.platbuilder (you can use GoogleGroups to
search for previous people who have had problems getting the right set of
components picked out). The information that I posted a link to last time
should tell you what to do...did you read it?

Hi,
ActiveSync uses PPP to connect to your PC. On the Windows CE side it uses
TCP/IP and RAPI to communicate. This is done via the RAS PPP interface.
