Hello
My sister-in-law's website is hosted with a company who have transfered
their business to another company. They have approached her to transfer her
site onto another "more secure" server. Regarding pricing, they stated:

"
Now, I thought 540MB seemed a mighty large website. She is a graphic
designer so her site is image-heavy but even then....
I FTP'd in and measured the size of her public_html folder [the only folder
in her FTP space]- which came to just 7.4MB. She is not using a content
management system so all her site assets are within this one folder. Am I
missing something? How could her data possibly be said to amount to 540MB?
Thanks

When space discrepencies come up, its almost always found in two
areas....logs and email. Email being the #1 culprit. Does your sister have
a catchall account that she doesn't know about?

First of all, you need to get "proof" that she is using > 540MB. That doesn't
sound right.
Second of all, $29.95/mo for 500MB and $34.95 for 1Gb is WAY too high. For
$26.40/mo I have 3GB disk space/20Gb transfer. And I have my own VPS with root
access.
You should be able to find 500MB for < $6.00/mo.

General point. I don't get these space questions. Space is cheap. I
have always had OODLES of disk space on my hosting accounts. Never been
an issue.

I should add that to be sure, I downloaded the whole of her site and
measured the size on my local
hard drive. Sure enough, it came to just 7.4 MB.
