I've got a Motorola MPx200 Smartphone with PocketPC2002. I'm running
Exchange 2003 but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get ota
activesync working. We've had this phone for years and the reason we got
them was to utilize this feature, but we have not used it at all because no
one can get it operating, so we've settled for using OMA in the meantime.

Can someone either point me to a good resource for getting this configured
properly or just spell it out here? I keep getting errors indicating that
I'm not connected. The only configuration information requested on the
device is:

1. Server name: here I'm putting the same prefix I'd I'd use for OWA,
"mail.mydomain.com"
2. Domain: here I'm putting in the name of my domain as it would be
described in the login dropdown: "Home" (for an AD domain actually named
home.mydomain.com
3. Username and PW: here I put my usual login credentials

This isn't working. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Otho

(I have an MPx220 w/Windows Mobile 2003 2nd Ed. but the article is generic
for ActiveSync for Exch. Svr. 2003)

Thanks, I'll go take a look at this and see if I can get things working.

If you can get to OMA you should not have a prolem getting to ActiveSync. I
am just guessing but it is probably a SSL cert problem. Try downloading the
cert tool from microsoft.com/exchange and disable cert check. I have done
this several times with success. The root certs in the device are limited so
not every cert will work and cause Active Sync to fail.

I had understood that disabling certcheck was not a good long term solution,
but only to be used during testing, prior to actually getting a real
certificate installed. I have no idea how to install a certificate or what
level of risk is involved if I don't, so I haven't moved on that front. Any
ideas?
