How do I open my laptop? Arunar 07-14-2008

I recently noticed a fan on the bottom of my HP Pavilion dv6000 and
thought how nice it would be if it was an LED fan instead. The problem
is I have never opened a laptop before. I know the first things to come
off are the screens and the keyboard, but I see no way of getting them
off. Thanks in advanced.

You can't change the fan anyway, it is a custom item. And your post
suggests that if you really try to do this, the most likely outcome is
that you would do hundreds of dollars worth of damage in an unsuccessful
attempt.

See if this link helps.... 'HP DV6000 manual'
click Maintenance and service guide at the bottom of the first section,
it's a pdf file format.

I can't see what damage you can do changing a fan if its the same
current consumption, they usually draw about 120 to 180mA and usually
12V dc rated.

What is equally important is the amount of air that it can shift and
the direction of rotation of the blades... we want the air moving in the
same direction, some fans have a taco pulse on that senses the rotation
speed all this has to be taken in consideration meaning that it'll be a
3 wire plug, the taco usually the middle wire, led's only take a few mA
of current at around 2 Volts or so.
