I have a phone running Microsoft Windows Mobile 5, and I'm trying
(rather unsuccessfully) to find out how to change the SMSC, or SMS
Service Centre, for the phone. (I'm using it on a different network to
that it was originally designed for).

I can reply to messages just fine, since they go back through the
initial SMSC, but when I come to send new messages directly, they don't
send - presumably because I've not changed the default SMS service
centre on my phone.

I've looked for a bit, but can't really find where to change this: any
ideas would be welcome...

The probability is that it's not the "center" but the fact that ms
Window Mobile os design prevents sending sms messages using any
addresses other than pure numbers (no "@" sign or alpha characters allowed)

It's a pita, but you have the ability to send via pop3 plus some
carriers offer "work arounds" such as putting the address in the subject
and sending to "6245" ("MAIL" on the keypad)

In addition, there are third party sms forwarders that can overcome this
as well.

On my Wizard, in the phone dialer app, select Menu, Options, Services
(Tab), Tap on "Voice Mail and Text Messaging" and tap "Get Settings."
This brings up the SMC and the Voicemail retreival #.

Usually that's on the SIM itself and programmed by the service provider,
IIRC, so your problem might be elsewhere.
