How can I tweak my Home Screen? Joseph Geretz 12-15-2005

When I boot up, my Home Screen contains a row of applications icons running
across the top of the screen (I'll call this the Start Bar). Many of these
icons are not particularly useful for me. (I guess these are more useful to
my provider. If they can get me to accidentally launch IE then they can bill
me. This has happened to me, fortunately only for a couple of bucks worth.
:-\ )

As I use my favorite applications, the Start Bar gets populated with my own
useful shortcuts. It would be nice though if I could configure the Start Bar
to show my useful icons upon initialization.

Where is this initial Start Bar configuration defined? If it's in ROM then
I'm out of luck, unless I can work out some programmatic solution to occur
upon system startup. But if this is defined in some XML configuration file
then all I need to do is tweak the XML and I'm in business.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks for your help!

Google searching "Homescreen MRU" leads here:
http://www.modaco.com/lofiversion/index.php/f9-900.html , where you can
browse for an overview. [Ctrl]+[F] there using the same string and you'll
find one specific solution. There are several, ofr course.

There are many homescreen alternatives you can download, mostly freeware.
You can change the homescreen through Settings, Home Screen.

One that is very customizable is called Facade. I forget who the developer
is. Do a search for the words Facade and Smartphone.
