Are there any solutions or any theories about the seemingly widespread
problem whereby ActiveSync shows the device as "Not connected", when
transferring large files or volumes of data? The device still regards itself
as being connected to the PC, however the desktop ActiveSync icon turns grey
and the device cannot be accessed via "My Computer". All data transfer
abruptly ceases.

The fact that I cannot send a file larger than perhaps 1MB entirely defeats
the purpose of ActiveSync for me. This is obviously an extremely fundamental
failure and seems not to be limited to any specific PC or type of mobile
device.

I have noticed that this problem has only occured since my HTC
Windows-Mobile 5 PDA-phone was sent to the network operator's repair centre
to fix a problem with the LCD screen. It appears that the phone has had a
software update during the procedure and a number of tasks begin during
ActiveSync namely:
(rapiclnt, repllog.exe, rnaap.exe and udp2tcp.exe) some of which did not
occur before.
Is there any possible suggestion or solution at all for resolving this
problem?

Hi Juan

I did eventually solve the problem simply by resetting the phone back to its
factory settings using the "Clear Storage" option in Settings. There was a
program or a utility, whose name I don't remember, that popped up and said
"'USB Connected" everytime I connected the phone to the PC. The program had
obviously been added by someone at the factory when I had the phone's LCD
screen repaired.

After clearing the storage the application disappeared for good and
activesync worked brilliantly.

I really hope this helps 'cos the problem was a bloody annoyance for me.
