Hi Andrew, I'll check out the drive jumper when I get home. I did look
at the BIOS - there is a hard drive password setting. When I plug in
the old drive, the option to set the password is enabled (although I've
never set it). When I plug in the Hitachi, the password option is
disabled.

Later on I'll try setting the password with the old drive and then put
in the Hitachi to see if that makes any difference.

Hi everyone, I set the drive jumper exactly the same on the Hitachi as
on the old drive and it worked! It was on cable select before, and I
changed it to master. Very odd that it was asking me for a password
though eh? Would have thought it just wouldn't detect the drive, or
something like that.

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Glad that solved it. It probably wasn't detecting the drive and was asking
for the password because of that.
