Hijacked Internet Connection? Muttvette 10-17-2006

My internet connection is dial-up from a rural area so it is normlly slow,
26K is flying. Recently I have noticed web pages loading ever slower,
connection center shows bytes sent and bytes received are always ticking
along, even while I am inactive on-line. Web surfing is almost stopped due to
what I suspect is connection hijacking. The wierd part is when I change to a
secondary login name, the speed of websurfing is back to normal, pages
download properly.

At this point the primary login name is useless due to something hijacking
the connection. I have all the requisite MS updates installed, firewall -
spyware - virusware protection.

What's happening here?
